Matthew Ramirez, MD
Biography:
Matthew Ramirez, M.D., M.S., F.A.A.P., is a Board-certified pediatric hematologist/oncologist at KIDZ Medical Services. Dr. Ramirez earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas Tech University, graduating Cum Laude. As a senior at Texas Tech, he earned the Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in the Biological Science Department. Following his undergraduate studies, Dr. Ramirez attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. In medical school, he served as a Representative on the University of Texas System Board of Regents Student Advisory Council.
After medical school, Dr. Ramirez served as a resident and intern at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. He earned the Chief Resident Award in the Department of Pediatrics. He also served as a delegate for the hospital’s Pediatrics Residency Program at the American Academy of Pediatrics. After completing his residency and internship, Dr. Ramirez was awarded a fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine. During his fellowship, he earned a Master of Science degree from Emory. His thesis focused on the yield of genitourinary late effects screening of pediatric cancer survivors and has continued his research on cancer therapy late effects screening among pediatric cancer survivors throughout his career. His findings have contributed to the Children’s Oncology Group’s Long-Term Follow-Up Guidelines for Survivors of Childhood, Adolescent, and Young Adult Cancers.
Dr. Ramirez is credentialed at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, where he was named the Most Outstanding New Physician in 2016. Dr. Ramirez currently also serves as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at FIU.
Dr. Ramirez is Board-certified in pediatric hematology/oncology and general pediatrics. He is currently a member of the Children’s Oncology Group, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Intercultural Cancer Council, the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
