Expert Cancer & Blood Disorders Care for Children and Teens
Pediatric hematology and pediatric oncology are two related medical specialties that focus on blood disorders (hematology) and cancer (oncology) in children and teens.
When your child receives a cancer or blood disorder diagnosis, you will have questions — and we understand. We are here to guide you, your child, and your family providing care for:
When your child is diagnosed with a noncancerous (benign) blood disorder, you may feel a mix of emotions and have a number of questions. Our expert team is here to listen to your concerns and answer the questions you have, all while providing the best patient experience and clinical care. Your child will have access to the latest in diagnostic and treatment options, while remaining close to home. Our renowned benign hematology team treats bleeding disorders/hemophilia, sickle cell disease and more, and provides blood and marrow transplantations (BMT).
We envision a healthy and fulfilling future for your child, where they can participate in daily activities and not be limited by their diagnosis.
Our Hemophilia Treatment Center, an internationally recognized center that provides comprehensive care—including diagnostics, treatment, counseling, and education—brings patients and families collaboration and ease in one place. As the premier Hemophilia Treatment Center in South Florida, we have decades of experience in diagnosing and treating blood disorders. To help minimize impacts to your child’s health and recovery time, we have also established protocols for emergent situations so that we are proactively starting care and connecting our team to your child upon your arrival at the emergency department.
A multidisciplinary approach to your child's care brings together a team of highly regarded blood disorder experts composed of a hematologist, nurse practitioner/program coordinator, orthopedic surgeon, physical therapist, social worker, dental service provider, and genetic counseling specialist, all working together to create a plan of care specific to your child's individual needs. KIDZ also participates in the 340B pharmacy program as part of our comprehensive care.

We have a multidisciplinary team of doctors and advanced practice providers that continuously come together to discuss treatment options, provide recommendations, and evaluate the next steps for your child.
We are active members in organizations that are dedicated to the advancement of BMT care including the:

Although NF is not common, our team has spent years treating children with NF. We have the needed expertise to care for your child and a multidisciplinary approach that brings together many specialties to review, assess and provide recommendations and treatment. We are also involved in research support to expand treatment options for your child.
Brain tumors in children are complex, so who you see for their care does matter. Our clinicians and team members staff the largest pediatric brain tumor center in South Florida, bringing together a team of renowned experts from neuro-oncology, neurosurgery, radiation oncology and other specialties. We are improving survival rates by leading medical research and offering clinical trials, at its earliest stages, so that your child can have the most innovative and best treatment options.
We proudly deliver personalized care with targeted therapies and use integrated therapies for the mind, body, and spirit. We incorporate music, art, and nutrition to help your child heal while receiving their customized treatment plan.
Leukemia is a cancer diagnosis we commonly treat, and your child will receive the highest level of care and compassion. We proudly partner with top ranked hospitals to deliver and triage care, so your child’s diagnosis is being proactively managed and simplified for the best outcomes during the course of their treatment.
Your child will benefit from our extensive years of experience treating leukemia and lymphoma. Our experts continuously spearhead clinical trials to find new ways to eliminate cancer cells or lift the veil of invisibility on cancer cells while retaining what good and healthy cells are needed.
Sarcoma can arise in the bones, connective tissue, such as fat and muscle, as well as organs. Our reputable team understands the complexities of this pediatric cancer diagnosis and how crucial it is to work together to treat your child’s cancer. Our partnership with specialties like orthopedics—who can surgically preserve an arm or leg so it grows along with your child—is essential to providing care that can span a lifetime. And your child will have access to the latest treatment options including immunotherapy, targeted therapies using personalized medicine and clinical trials for hard-to-treat tumors.
We have been providing care for children with sickle cell disease for more than two decades. Following a diagnosis, our team of pediatric hematologists will develop a plan — specific to your child—to closely monitor and provide treatment. We offer blood & marrow transplants and are the premier Hemophilia Treatment Center in South Florida at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Our providers want your child to have a quality of life that is not defined by their diagnosis and will proactively work to connect you with the many services that can help manage complications and offer preventative care.
Our team understands pediatric cancer survivors may have different health needs as a result of late side effects of their cancer care, which requires lifelong monitoring. We want to hear from you and your child so we can make recommendations based on knowing your child’s medical history. By meeting with your child as they grow, we can discuss medical care options—including any needed referrals to specialists—and other resources to help them thrive at any point in their life.
As part of our collaboration with the Children’s Oncology Group—the world’s largest organization devoted to childhood and adolescent cancer research—our team will continue to evolve the care for your child based on their age, life stage and updated standards. We bring together hematology/oncology, endocrinology, social work, neuropsychology, and a school liaison to minimize your child’s time away from school.
Vascular malformations can occur throughout the body as they are associated with blood vessels such as veins arteries and lymphatic. Some may be disfiguring or life-threatening so when a diagnosis is made it requires specialty care from experts, such as hematologists, dermatologists, plastic surgeons and interventional radiologists. Our team understands how to provide that level of specific care. We have the needed expertise to care for your child with a multidisciplinary approach that brings together many specialties to review, assess and provide recommendations and treatment based on the varying symptoms, severity, and causes.
Your pediatrician or family doctor understands and trusts that referring your child to our team of experts gives you the needed specialization and care in cancers and blood disorders.
